FileMaker Pro Advanced 17 and FileMaker Server 17 have added many new and exciting features to the FileMaker product family. At the same time, FileMaker Pro Advanced 17 can no longer connect to FileMaker Server versions 14 and earlier.
Since FileMaker Server 14 was the last version before FileMaker’s EULA started disallowing shared hosting, a Virtual Dedicated Server is now required to host databases to FileMaker Pro Advanced 17 clients.
If you wish to use a shared hosting account instead, you would need to use FileMaker 16 or earlier. Note that FileMaker offers a “downgrade license” to FileMaker Pro 16 for those purchasing new licenses – please contact FileMaker Sales for details.
If you have any further questions regarding FileMaker 17 hosting, please contact us.
